1985年12月13日、横峯家の3女として鹿児島県鹿屋市に生まれる。父・良郎、長女・瑠依(プロゴルファー)の影響で8歳よりクラブを握る。小学4年生で出場した「全国小学生大会」で優勝、中学2年生で「日本ジュニア選手権」制覇。明徳義塾高校2年で日本ジュニアゴルフ選手権優勝、翌年の全国高校選手権で春夏連覇しジュニア主要大会3連勝を果たす。2004年8月プロテスト合格、史上最速となるわずか3試合でシード権獲得。翌年の「ライフカードレディスゴルフトーナメント」でツアー初優勝。賞金ランクは常に4位以内に入り、2009年にはメジャー1勝を含む自身最多となる年間6勝を挙げ、賞金女王の座を獲得。2011年6月「リゾートトラストレディス」で優勝を飾り、ツアー史上最速最年少で生涯獲得賞金7億円を突破。2012年6月には生涯獲得賞金8億円を最年少記録となる26歳194日で達成。2013年は連続予選通過記録101試合達成。生涯獲得賞金9億円突破を最年少で達成、LPGAメルセデス年間優秀選手賞を獲得する。 2014年4月、結婚。11月の大王製紙エリエールレディでミセス初Ｖ達成。同試合で生涯獲得賞金10億円を超える。12月には米LPGAツアーのQTに挑み11位で通過。2015年からは米LPGAツアーを主戦場とする。 Source
