One of my favourite things to do is to attend golf tournaments and attending the Kraft Nabisco LPGA tournament every year has become an annual ritual for us. This year, we were lucky to had followed Lydia Ko, the 15-year old wonder from New Zealand. We found her quite mature for her age and very composed. And her game was spectacular as well. We also followed Yani Tseng for a bit but thought of giving her a break to follow some of the other Korean girls such Jiyai Shin, Na Yeon Choi and Inbee Park.
After the round, you can get up close and personal with players by lining up at the Autograph stand. After they have signed their card, most of them will make themselves available to meet the fans and sign autographs. The stand is located off the putting green and there usually is a line up of fans.
After Yani’s disappointing round, she wasn’t interested in seeing anyone except her swing coach so she skipped out to work on her putting. As avid fans, we waited patiently for her to finish up putting then as she made her way towards the clubhouse, we jumped at the opportunity to see her closeup.
We managed to get her autograph on my wife’s visor but that’s it. Back at the autograph stand, Morgan Pressel and Natalie Gulbis were on hand, smiling and happy to meet their fans. They were both so friendly, especially to all the little girls who came out to cheer for them.
